Duo make boosting returns

For some welcome news; Theo Walcott and Eduardo have been deemed fit for Sunday’s FA Cup tie at home to Burnley.

The English winger makes a return since injuring his shoulder during training for his country, but the Croatian forward will be back in action after a little set-back in his remarkable return from a serious leg-break.

Both players – notably Walcott – have participated in usual training sections but were held back by lack of match fitness.

Wenger has confirmed they will play a part in this weekend’s event – whether warming the bench or sprinting out on the field.

Wenger spoke ahead of the weekend:

“I will see how they [Walcott and Eduardo] look tomorrow and Saturday but they will certainly be in the squad, especially Theo,” Wenger told Arsenal TV Online. “We have to wait and see how Eduardo reacts and responds to his injury.

“We are quite optimistic about Kolo but we have to assess the situation today completely. I don’t think I will involve him on Sunday. But Gallas should be back for Sunday and it looks to be like Kolo will be back for next week [against Roma].

“Adebayor is definitely out for Sunday and for Roma too.”

There will be rested legs with the midweek trip to Rome in mind, but Wenger intends to not neglect the romance of the FA Cup this weekend.

“Sunday is a big game for us and rotation will be there for some players who have played full games,” said Wenger. “Fabianski will continue in goal and we will try to have a good balance, a good quality.

“The most important thing for us is not to think about Roma, but to focus on this game and qualify. The best way to deal with the next game is to win this one.”

  4. The FA Cup is the best opportunity for Arsenal to win a (domestic)trophy this season. The return of a few injured players will certainly help the team to succeed. With the Roma’s game looming, Wenger need to juggle the players available so as to achieve success in both these games. I believe it is best that the team takes each game at a time so that the players will not be distracted with the Roma’s game. A strong squad is necessary to ensure victory over Burnley.( No room for over confident)Upon the team victory over Burnley, the team can fully focus on Roma. How Arsene Wenger rotate and present the players for these two matches will be interesting to watch.

  11. Is this kind of Line-up competition? …lol

  12. LOL arsenalkidz…I thought the same.

Everyone likes to play ‘fantasy-Wenger’ I guess.

  13. Just a thought.Maybe Arsenal Spot can give a prize to those who guess correctly playing ‘fantasy-Wenger’.. lol

  14. LOL…..just a confirmation….welcome to Arsenal SPOT’s new Fantasy Wenger feature during every match’s build-up.

This will probably start this weekend.

And should guessers appear right, what should their ‘prize’ be?

  15. Way to go, Randy!!

Sagna and Denilson need a break, VP just had one. Walcott and Eduardo would be good subs (and maybe Bendtner to). I would prefer Gallas for a rest to, so maybe Song to defense and Ramsey to midfield.
